In 1979, Nancy E. Travis formally established her child care support center in Atlanta that would eventually become Quality Care for Children (QCC). Decades before child care made its way onto the national stage, Nancy had been advocating to community leaders and public officials about the importance of high-quality care and its impact on child development, families, and the economy. Her vision and determination set QCC on a path to become a nationally recognized leader in the early childhood education field.

From this small, yet ambitious founding 40 years ago, QCC has grown significantly in size, now with more than 100 employees across its three offices, and in its capacity to impact young children and their families. Evolving over four decades to meet the growing needs of children in Georgia, QCC has expanded its programs to provide child care programs with training, support, and nutritious meals to improve their quality; parents with resources and financial scholarships to find and afford high-quality care; and community leaders with data and insight to advocate for better early childhood education policies.

While many things have changed, Nancy's original vision has not -- that one day all children in Georgia will benefit from high-quality early learning experiences. The organization's growth and success has not come naturally, but rather, is the result of the significant efforts and resources invested by staff, board members, funders, and community partners throughout QCC's history.
